KeyStream is a macOS menu bar app that adds mechanical keyboard sound effects to your typing and lets you mix in white noise or ambient audio for a more focused workspace.
No. KeyStream is built to react to key presses for playback and app behavior, not to collect or transmit the content of your keystrokes.
KeyStream may need accessibility or input-monitoring related permissions so it can detect key presses across apps and play sounds consistently from the menu bar.
Yes. You can adjust your setup based on how you like to work, including using typing sounds, focus audio, or a combination of both when available in the app.
You can pause or adjust playback from the menu bar controls, or disable the required macOS permissions if you want the app to stop responding to system-wide typing.
First, confirm the app has the permissions it needs in macOS System Settings, then check your selected sound profile and output volume inside KeyStream. If the issue continues, contact support.
